TeleMedicine Due to COVID-19

Due to the rapid spread of COVID-19, our practice is doing our part to ensure that the virus is contained and not spread to our patients. As such, we are following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control as well as the American Academy of Dermatology and implementing a telemedicine protocol.

All currently scheduled appointments will convert to telemedicine, with the exception of the following:

  • Cosmetic procedures (Botox, fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, etc.)
  • Surgical procedures (biopsies, excisions, electrodesiccation and curettage, etc.)
  • Photodynamic Therapy with Red Light
  • Injections of Steroids for Keloids and Alopecia

The visit types above will be rescheduled for when our offices re-open.

What types of appointments qualify for telemedicine?

  • Follow-Up on Biopsy Results: During your e-visit, Dr. Bagheri will review the results of your biopsy with you, answer any questions you may have go over your treatment options, and make a treatment plan.
  • Management of Chronic and Acute Dermatologic Conditions (Acne, Dermatitis, Eczema, Herpes, Impetigo, Psoriasis, Melasma, Rosacea, Scabies, Seborrheic Dermatitis, Xerosis, and many more) During your e-visit, Dr. Bagheri will review your current treatment modalities with you, ask you about any improvement or worsening in your condition, and make adjustments to your medications and/or regimens as necessary.

How do E-Visits work?

At or near your check in time, someone from our office will call you for check in, and collect any co-payment (if applicable). During check in, we will ask you what type of device you have (iPhone, android, computer with web-cam, etc.) If you have an iPhone or apple device, Dr. Bagheri will FaceTime you from a 646 area code phone number. If you don’t have an apple device, our team will give you instructions on the app to download. We will send any prescriptions ordered during your visit to your pharmacy of choice. We have also partnered with mail in pharmacies so that your prescriptions can be sent to your door at no extra cost to you.

Will insurance cover my E-Visit?

Most commercial insurance plans, especially in light of the current pandemic, cover telemedicine services. Medicare has also extended coverage for telemedicine. The following HMO plans that we accept have agreed to cover your e-visit:

  • Hoag Affiliated Physicians and Hoag Medical Group
  • Mission Hospital Affiliated Physicians and Mission Heritage Medical Group
  • St. Joseph Affiliated Physicians and St. Joseph Heritage Medical Group
  • St. Jude Affiliated Physicians and St. Jude Heritage Medical Group
